How many times have you, correction - we, repented something?
On a daily basis there are numerous things, actions, opportunities that we mess with, knowingly or unknowingly. But how many of us get a second chance?
Till a few days back, during some of the hottest days in the Summer, I would to cross the traffic signal at Deccan on my way to office every morning when there would be an old lady controlling the traffic at the signal as a support to Traffic police.
My heart would ache everytime I'd watch her standing there, firmly, scolding the those who'd try to jump the red signal or stop the vehicle on the Zebra crossing. And yes, it being one of the busiest crossing in Pune she'd get plenty of violators to scold.
The Summer heat, even during the early hours of the day, would easily dehydrate me. I'd wonder every day how the old lady would be coping with it at her age? I'd want to go and thank her for doing her job, as sometimes I say to traffic police who stand for the duty in the afternoons. But either as I would be too self-conscious infront of the whole morning crowd or as I would be late for office I never did it.
I knew I had to act soon or else the lady might not be there after some days, as she was working there as a part of an initiative. And indeed after some days she disappeared!
Point of writing this whole thing is Appreciate! Appreciate anyone and everyone you can or want to for anything and everything you like about them. It's not always just about the close ones, not about beauty or success. It's about something good in someone who may even be unrelated or irrelevant. But if you identify that good, you may as well find the good inside you and nurture it by appreciating good in the other person!
I've missed my one chance. I may be fortunate to meet that lady again and appreciate, thank her. But for now it hurts that when time permitted, I didn't. Grab your chances, and tell me if what I feel is true!
And come what may.. don't have something to repent.
